Registration starts at 10 am at Centennial Science Hall
The running will start at 11 am with the launch of our famous SPS Trebuchet!
Sigma Pi SIgma Centennial 5k
Join us on campus for a 5K (pi miles) run/walk to support the physics department!
We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society

Registration
There will be a $5 fee for registration (12 and under free).
All funds from this 5K will go towards PhysCon 2022, Oct. 6-8 in Washington, D.C.

Society of Physics Students
"The Society of Physics Students is a national organization for anyone interested in physics. The UWRF chapter is one of the largest SPS chapters in the nation. We promote interest in physics by providing science outreach shows to schools and groups in our area. We also have many other activities, some tied into the regional and national organization. We usually meet once a week to discuss upcoming events and to provide a social gathering amidst the chaos of school work."
Brief directions
Centennial Hall: 511 S Sixth St, River Falls, WI 54022
The race will start near Centennial Science Hall (South side near Observatory) and will proceed around the freshman dorms, by the intermural fields, around the Falcon Center, by Ag Sci and the East side dorms, and finally finish back in front of Centennial Hall!
Trebuchet Launch
We will start the race with the launch of our Famous SPS Trebuchet!!
Awards
There are a couple ways to earn cool SPS themed awards!
Racing
Top 3 Finishers
The top 3 finishers of the 5K will be awarded plaques for their hard work. There will be plaques awarded to the top three finishers in the Men's and Women's Divisions. Plaques were custom laser engraved, stained, and painted by SPS members.
Science
Answering Questions
Catering towards those who would prefer to walk the 5k, we will have 5 science questions posted along the route. If you are able to answer the 5 questions (they don't have to be correct) then we will be giving out fun SPS/Sigma Pi Sigma tokens custom made by SPS members.
